WELCOME TO THE FIREHAWKS

Dash_large

The Firehawks is a youth lacrosse club dedicated to bringing the sport of lacrosse to kids on the Peninsula. We are committed to learning, playing and loving lacrosse. We primarily draw players from San Carlos, Redwood City, Atherton, Woodside, Menlo Park and Belmont, although membership on the club is not restricted to a geographic area.

Come out and watch us in action, and see the FIRE and passion in our players and their love for the game, its tradition and culture of respect and giving back to the community.

Mission

The mission of the Firehawks is to develop a true and lasting love and passion for the game of lacrosse. The Firehawks are dedicated to developing lacrosse skills, good sportsmanship, teamwork, accountability and respect in a healthy and fun environment. The Firehawks believe that winning is just a by-product of team character and individual effort and growth.

Coaches

We are extremely proud of our talented staff of 35 coaches, many of whom played collegiate lacrosse, including some who played Division 1 and professional lacrosse. Firehawks coaches are much more than athletic directors. They use their passion for lacrosse as the foundation to help kids build character and learn critical life skills from understanding the value of hard work and respect, to giving back to the community. Ask a Firehawks player about the 4 Cs of lacrosse, and they tell you: Commitment, Competition, Connection and Community.  Ask them what the FIRE in Firehawks means and they'll tell you:  Focus, Intensity, Respect and Effort.

2008 Season

2008 was only our second season as a competitive lacrosse club, and we are on FIRE!   We grew from three to eight teams - seven boy's teams and one girl's team.  The Pee Wee A, Pee Wee B and Pups A teams made it to the playoffs, with our pups team capturing 3rd place and the pee wee B team winning 4th place in Northern California (both with extremely close over time losses in the semi-finals).  Nine of our players were selected to the elite U-13 and U15 NORCAL travel teams - the most of any club in Northern California.

2009 Season

2009 will be our third year as a club.  We have quickly grown to 220 players on 12 teams - 10 boys teams and two girls teams.  We take great pride in having an outstanding younger program in particular, and are the only club on the peninsula to have a team for first graders, called the "Firestarters".   This incredible growth is a true testament to the popularity of the sport and of the Firehawks program.  In 2009 we will have the following teams:  Firestarters (1st grade), three U-9 boys teams, two U-11 boys teams (A and B divsions), two U-13 boys teams (A and B-2 divisions), two U-15 teams (A and B-2 divisions), one girls U-11 team, and one girls U-13 team.
