Coach Doug Appleton

Voted MVP In Hawaii Tournament

News on Firehawks Head Coach and Club President Doug Appleton.  This fall Doug has garnered incredibly prestigious honors both on and off the field.  In October, at the famed Hawaii Lacrosse Tournament, Doug played for both the Crease Monkeys Masters and the Crease Monkeys Elite teams as a long-stick defensive middie, and both of his teams won the championship in their division.  Doug was named tournament MVP in the masters division.  On the Elite team he played alongside 20 professional lacrosse players, including top players in the world such as Mike Powell, Matt Striebel, Josh Sims and Gavin Prout.

In other news, Firehawks Lacrosse Club has received national recognition.  Doug will travel to Philadelphia in January where he will be awarded the 2008 US Lacrosse Youth Excellence Coaching  Award. This is awarded to one youth coach in the entire country who best exemplifies the values of positive coaching and honoring the game.  We are all incredibly proud to be part of Firehawks Lacrosse and its mission for excellence both on and off the field!!
