The San Francisco Dragons welcome the Firehawks Lacrosse Club as their first partner in the Student of the Game program. A member of the NCJLA (Northern California Junior Lacrosse Association), the Firehawks LC offers youth boys and girls personalized coaching and the opportunity to play league games. The club works on developing a true and lasting love and passion for the game of lacrosse in their young players.

"The Firehawks are excited to be the first youth team to partner with the Dragons in the Student of the Game program," said Doug Appleton, President of the Firehawks Lacrosse Club. "We are only in our second year as a club, and already have 175 players in grades 1-8.  Through the Dragons’ creative efforts, the players and coaches within the Firehawks have a tremendous opportunity to help our club grow and enhance our players’ overall lacrosse experience.  We are looking forward to the interaction that the Dragons coaches and players will have within our club, and look forward to supporting the Dragons at their games," said Appleton.

The Dragons’ Student of the Game  is a Youth Development program was established to provide Northern California youth lacrosse clubs and surrounding youth lacrosse leagues with an education-based curriculum that will further enhance the players’, coaches and parents' knowledge and appreciation of the game. The Dragons’ Student of the Game program motivates and educates by providing its partners with exclusive access to the Dragons’ coaches and players through coaching clinics and appearances, among other benefits.

The Student of the Game program bestows clubs with various tools aimed at assisting in all aspects of lacrosse. From recruitment of players, volunteers and coaches to providing on-field experiences for kids, the Student of the Game program aims at fulfilling a club’s needs and goals.  One aspect of the program is a special Club-Night-Out to a Dragons’ home game at Spartan Stadium. The purpose of this outing is to give youth players the opportunity to watch a game live, learn from professionals and provide parents an opportunity to meet in a social setting. The "Club Night Out" is the ultimate team-building event that will allow clubs an opportunity to come out and enjoy San Francisco Dragons home games.

"The Firehawks have been very supportive of the Dragons since they began as a club," said Doug Locker, Dragons General Manager/Executive Vice President. "Through this partnership and their continued support, the Dragons will be able to give back more to the players, coaches and parents of the Firehawks," continued Locker.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to work with the Firehawks Lacrosse Club as a Student of the Game partner. This organization has demonstrated a strong ability of operating a very successful youth club and has an extremely competitive program with excellent leadership and coaching at all levels. Several other youth lacrosse organizations in the area are currently considering the Student of the Game program. At the current rate of interest, this program will be fully subscribed before kick-off of the 2008 MLL season," said Dragons VP of Sales, James Martin.
